Fiddler on the Roof (1971) was playing at Walter Reade Theater yesterday as a part of Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Norman Jewison: Relentless Renegade series. Though I am not a big fan of musicals, I love this one. Also, it is one of my favorite movies. An Orthodox Jewish community might seem so different to my lifestyle, but in actuality, I found many similarities. For example, my father’s worrying over who I will marry, my parents’ concern over my well being, feeling like an outsider, etc. Also, who doesn’t like comical and also a sympathetic look at a quirky (in terms of character) group of people?
