Official Selection for 64th Cannes Film Festival was announced today! Of course, Woody Allen’s Midnight In Paris is the opening film, out of competition. In competition are many returners and first-time feature films. Among them are Pedro Almodovar, Alain Cavalier, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Terrence Malick and Lars Von Trier (gasp?). Gus Van Sant’s Restless opens “Un Certain Regard” and has many acclaimed directors’ movies (Yay Kim Ki-Duk!). There’s even going to be a free “Festival de Cannes” iPhone application available to download as of May 7, 11. This app will feature everything from latest updates, screening, red carpet events and much more.
I attended the festival for the past two years and it has been a great experience. Sadly, I can’t go this year due to my graduation ceremony. But soon, I’ll be back!
